Transform your MetaTrader 5 trading experience with institutional-grade automation. This comprehensive guide will take you from installation to your first profitable trade using the TradeDonor Nexus EA suite.
The TradeDonor Nexus v3.6 is the flagship Expert Advisor (EA) designed for serious traders who approach trading like a financial enterprise. Unlike basic EAs that simply execute trades, Nexus integrates multiple sophisticated systems into a single command center.
This EA combines Risk Management, Time Management, News Filtering, and Advanced Signal Generation into one powerful tool. It's built for traders who understand that consistent profitability comes from systematic discipline, not gambling.

Step 1
Installation & Setup
Before your EA can function, you must complete these critical setup steps in your MetaTrader 5 terminal. This process takes approximately 5 minutes but is essential for proper operation.
Installing the EA File
File Installation Process
Open your MT5 Terminal
Navigate to File → Open Data Folder
Open MQL5 → Experts folder
Copy TradeDonorNexus.mq5 and any .mqh files into this directory
Return to MT5 and refresh Expert Advisors in Navigator
The EA should now appear in your Navigator panel under Expert Advisors. If it doesn't appear, ensure all files are in the correct Experts directory.
Critical: WebRequest Authorization
The Nexus EA requires internet access to validate your license through our secure servers. Without this authorization, the EA will display "URL Not Whitelisted" and refuse to trade.
1
Open Options
Go to Tools → Options in MT5
2
Expert Advisors Tab
Select the Expert Advisors tab
3
Enable WebRequest
Check "Allow WebRequest for listed URL"
4
Add URL
Click + and add: https://api.keygen.sh
This URL must be whitelisted exactly as shown. Any typos will prevent license validation and disable all trading functionality.
Step 2
Your First Trade Setup
Now we'll configure the EA for a simple, conservative first trade. This example uses fixed lot sizing and basic candle signals - perfect for beginners to understand the system.
Attaching the EA and License Entry
Attachment Process
Open the chart for your desired symbol (e.g., EURUSD)
Drag TradeDonorNexus from Navigator onto the chart
In the Common tab, ensure "Allow Algo Trading" is checked
Navigate to the Inputs tab
Scroll to "VII. 🔑 LICENSE MANAGEMENT"
Enter your License Key in the designated field
Your license key should be a unique alphanumeric string provided upon purchase. Keep this key secure and never share it with others.
Configuring Basic Risk Management
For your first trade, we'll use a simple fixed lot size approach. This eliminates complexity while you learn the system's behavior.
Navigate to Risk Settings
Go to "III. 🛡️ RISK MANAGEMENT" in the Inputs tab
Set Lot Sizing Mode
Under "LOT SIZING & EXPOSURE", set Lot Sizing Mode to "Off"
Configure Manual Lot Size
Set Manual Lot Size to 0.01 (micro lot for safety)
Set Trades Per Signal
Set Trades Per Signal to 1 (one trade per signal)
Example Configuration: With these settings, each signal will open exactly one 0.01 lot trade, risking approximately $1 per pip on most major pairs.
Setting Stop Loss and Take Profit
The EA uses a priority system for stop loss and take profit calculation. We'll use the simplest method: fixed pips.
Disable Higher Priority Methods
In "STOP LOSS / TAKE PROFIT (PRIORITY)" section:
Set "Use ATR Stops" to false
Set "Fixed SL Price" to 0.0 (disabled)
Set "SL Bar Count" to 0 (disabled)
Configure Fixed Pip Method
At the bottom of the priority list:
Set "Fixed SL Pips" to 100
Set "Fixed TP Pips" to 200
This creates a 1:2 risk-reward ratio.
With 100 pip stop loss and 200 pip take profit, you're risking $1 to potentially make $2 on each 0.01 lot trade (on EURUSD).
Configuring Entry Signals
For your first trade, we'll use the simple Candle Engine, which generates signals based on new bar formation.
1
Select Signal Engine
Navigate to "IV. 📈 TRADE ENTRY LOGIC". Under "MASTER SIGNAL ENGINE", set Signal Engine to "Candle Engine".
2
Choose Trade Direction
In "A. CANDLE ENGINE SETTINGS", set Trade Direction to "Buy Only" for this first example.
3
Set Monitoring Timeframe
Set Candle TF to "H1" to monitor the 1-hour chart for new signals.
What This Means: The EA will now wait for each new H1 candle to close and immediately place a buy order with your configured risk parameters.
✅ Signal engine set to Candle Engine (Buy Only, H1)
✅ All required inputs reviewed
Click OK to close the properties window and activate the EA. Ensure the AutoTrading button in MT5's main toolbar is green (enabled).
If AutoTrading is disabled (red button), the EA cannot place any trades regardless of signals generated.
Success!
Your First Trade is Ready
The EA is now monitoring the H1 timeframe and will execute a buy trade at the close of the next hourly candle. The status panel on your chart shows all system statuses and will update in real-time.
Understanding the Status Panel
Once activated, the EA displays a comprehensive status panel on your chart. This panel is your mission control, showing the health and status of all integrated systems.
License Status
Shows license validation, expiry date, and remaining time. Green indicates active license.
Time Management
Displays current session status, trading hours, and any upcoming session changes.
News Filter
Shows upcoming high-impact news events and current pause status.
Signal Engine
Indicates active signal engine, current market regime, and last signal generated.
Risk Monitor
Tracks daily P&L, open exposure, and proximity to risk limits.
Last Trade Log
Shows detailed audit trail of the most recent trade decision and execution.
Advanced Risk Management Features
Once comfortable with basic operation, explore these powerful risk management features that set Nexus apart from basic EAs.
Daily Risk Controls
Daily Loss Limit (%): Automatically stops trading if daily losses exceed specified percentage
Daily Profit Target (%): Stops trading when daily profit target is reached
Auto Reset: Automatically resets daily counters at midnight
Hard Equity Stops
Hard Stop Level: Ultimate kill-switch if equity drops to specified level
Hard Target Level: Closes all positions when equity target is reached
Intelligent Trailing
Equity Trailing Stop: Trails your account's peak equity to lock in profits
Position Trailing: Individual position trailing stops with customizable activation levels
Trail from Peak: Percentage-based trailing from equity highs
Dynamic Lot Sizing Methods
Beyond fixed lot sizes, Nexus offers sophisticated position sizing that automatically adjusts to your risk tolerance and account growth.
Risk Percent of Equity
Automatically calculates lot size based on percentage of current equity you're willing to risk. As your account grows, position sizes increase proportionally.
Example: Risk 2% of $10,000 account with 100-pip stop = 0.20 lots
Risk Fixed Amount
Calculates lot size to risk a specific dollar amount regardless of account size. Provides consistent dollar risk per trade.
Example: Risk $200 with 100-pip stop = lot size adjusts to maintain $200 risk
Manual Override
Use fixed lot sizes when you want complete control or are testing new strategies with minimal risk.
Best for: Strategy testing, small accounts, or maximum control scenarios
Advanced Signal Engine: Confluence Model
The Confluence Engine represents institutional-grade signal generation, requiring multiple technical conditions to align before triggering trades.
Multi-Filter Approach
Trend Strength Filter: Uses ADX to ensure sufficient trend momentum
Cycle Filter: CCI identifies optimal entry timing within trends
Location Filter: Ensures entries near key support/resistance levels
HTF Confirmation: Higher timeframe validates the signal direction
Regime Filter: Adapts strategy based on trending vs. ranging markets
Full Confluence mode requires ALL enabled filters to agree before generating a signal, dramatically reducing false signals while maintaining high-probability setups.
Time and News Management
Professional trading requires awareness of market sessions and news events. Nexus automates this critical aspect of risk management.
1
Session Management
Define specific trading hours for each day of the week. Automatically flatten positions at session end or stop new trades before close.
2
News Filtering
Monitor high, medium, and low impact news events. Automatically pause trading or close positions around major announcements.
3
Automated Actions
Choose from multiple news event responses: pause new trades, close existing positions, or implement trailing stops.
4
Visual Alerts
Optional chart lines mark upcoming news events, helping you visualize market-moving periods.
Major news events can cause extreme volatility and slippage. The news filter protects your capital during these unpredictable periods.
Notification System & Monitoring
Stay informed of all EA activities through multiple notification channels, ensuring you never miss critical trading events.
MT5 Journal Logging
Comprehensive logs in your Experts tab provide detailed audit trails of every decision and action taken by the EA.
Pop-up Alerts
Critical events trigger immediate on-screen notifications, including trade executions, risk limit breaches, and system errors.
Mobile Push Notifications
Receive alerts on your smartphone through the MT5 mobile app, keeping you connected to your trading even when away from your computer.
Email Notifications
Configure email alerts for major events, providing a permanent record and ensuring backup notification delivery.
Pro Tip: Start with Journal logging enabled, then gradually add other notification methods as you become comfortable with the EA's behavior patterns.
Saving Your Configuration & Next Steps
Create and Save Presets
Once you've configured the EA to your satisfaction, save your settings as a preset file (.set) for easy reuse:
In the EA's Inputs tab, click the Save button
Name your preset descriptively (e.g., "EURUSD_Conservative_H1")
Save to the default Presets folder
Load anytime by clicking Load and selecting your preset
Pro traders maintain multiple presets for different pairs, timeframes, and market conditions.
